PHP and Mysql Updates
Hello Everyone,
Starting at 1:00AM PST Saturday March 14, 2009, we will be upgrading the versions of PHP and MYSQL on all of our servers. This upgrade is mostly seamless, but we ask that you all make sure that your scripts are as up to date as possible. We noticed some clients using older OScommerce versions, and they will break as a result of the upgrade. Any OScommerce upgrade or install done in the past 3 years is fine, and the upgrade is seamless. This upgrade only affects scripts that are around 6 years old. We will be upgrading to PHP 5.2.6 and MYSQL 5.X . These versions have been out for a while, and the development has stopped for the 4.x branch. We will also be changing the environment type of PHP as well, moving all mod_php servers to suphp. This will allow php to run as the user, which helps you have permissions over the files that your scripts write (without having us chown them), and also is more secure. We have a series of conversion scripts that we will run on your files to ensure that it will work properly, so there isn't anything that you have to do. The only thing that I've seen happen is old OScommerce versions require you to change permissions to 644 or 400 on the configure.php file. -Steven
