Hi,

I have a client that is on a Mac. Can he set up the pop email with the Outook express config in the control panel. He was having problems and I set his email up in my Outlook just fine this morning! I don't know if it's the operator or the Mac.

Thanks!

As I was told by Steven....it seems that what needs to happen for Outlook or Outlook Express to work "properly" is:

1. POP Server: mail.theirdomain.com
2. Username: name@theirdomain.com (including the @theirdomain.com)
3. Password: their password

And some ISP's will not allow the use of another server for SMTP, so they may need to use their ISP's SMTP. I personally experience this with Earthlink.net.

Hope that helps......

Sara,

I'm on a Mac, and mail works just fine. What's he using for a mail client? Outlook Express won't run on Mac OS X (which has been out for about 18 months, now). The Mail program that comes with Mac OS X can access the mail here via POP or IMAP, with no problems.

Any mail client on the Mac should be able to do simple POP. The only question is the specifics of the way to make the settings. If he's trying secure POP, or IMAP, that might be a bit more complicated. (But I normally use secure IMAP from the OS X Mail client).

Thank you for your responses! I have emailed him with those pasted in there, hopefully it will make sense to him and he will figure it out. :)

*LOL* The designer of his site and I have decided he is not computer literate even with explicit instructions. I finally went in this morning and set up email forwarders. Then, I sent him test emails. I hope to get no emails from him today. Well, maybe one thanking me.

I actually had to visit one of my local clients who owns three different used car lots to setup Email on five different computers. The Email and phone explanations worked fine until some employees began "changing things around" without knowing what they were doing...

Now if only one of my California clients needed me to do some on-site troubleshooting... :p

Is that all that is all you want, no reservations at the Penninsula or the Four Seasons, how about the Regent Beverly Wilshire? Yeah the health club will come in handy after those wonderfull meals at the hotels. The Griffith Park ride is actually very nice, been there done that. Sounds to me that you would love it here in Southern California, considering all those places are right here. For the Al Pacino movie, how about I call my agent ;)

...me too, sarah...

...to get back on track... i'll say this... one of my design clients uses a mac... he also uses netscape for his default browser and mail...

...i talked him into trying internet explorer and outlook express...

...he tried it for two days, hated it, and went back to netscape... he also could not get outlook express to work properly...

...i'll have to go to kinkos and rent a mac to see what the difference is... one of these days... maybe... :p

He finally told me that he uses AOHELL to connect to the 'net. Well, wouldn't that have saved me some time?

Geeeeeeeesh.

I have only been to CA once, when I was about 9. I wonder if it's changed. Haha!
