The prices you list are monthly charges, yes?
Can I actually create and use multiple .htaccess files? My current host uses a clunky interface that doesn't do a satisfactory job.
I'm in the market for a new host, and Adam Kalsey recommended you highly. (I think he's actually moving in today!)

I'm pretty sure the answer to all of those questions are "Yes."
You might want to wait for "The Man" to get back to you on those questions.

jdbanks,
Don't mind Chris....we don't feed him often and he gets testy. *grin*
As for the .htaccess files, as far as I know, you can.....are you referring to multiple ones in the same folder or simply being able to have one in multiple places?
As for your old host, what Control Panel did they use? InsiderHosting uses CPanel which has a file manager built in where you can edit the .htaccess file.....or alternatively, you can use a program I use: FlashFXP which is a FTP program that can see the .htaccess files and you can use the built in editor to do what you need to do........
Hope that helps....

jdbanks,
Hello and thanks for your posting your question. Yes, the prices listed on our site are monthly prices. Yes you can create multiple .htaccess files on our servers as that is no problem. Are these htaccess files all in the same directory, or are they in various directories on your site?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I meant separate .htaccess files for separate directories.
And my current host does use CPanel, but it doesn't allow me to do separate files for separate directories. Unless I'm missing something vital in its operation.
In addition, any .htaccess files I upload via FTP seem to vanish into thin air.

jdbanks,
Yes we allow multiple htaccess files in seperate directories no problem at all. What FTP client are you using to upload those htaccess files? Try to enable a remote filter so that you can see that .htaccess file. The command to show those files when the remote filter is enabled is -a.

I'm using WS_FTP... and I thought I could see them on my last host. Is this something about server configuration?
So how can I do the filter thing with WS_FTP?
Thanks!

You've got to have some sense of humor if you're going to touch the internet. ;)
Actually, I think I've just gone crazy thanks to computers.

While we do not use Ws_FTP, try the following. Some files, such as the .htaccess file used for password protection of a directory, become invisible, even to you, after you've uploaded them. To see these and all invisible files, enter -a in the white box directly under the MkDir button in the Ws_FTP main window; hit Enter key.
Hope this helps,
-Steven

Well I'll be... All the years I've been using WS_FTP and never really noticed that was a box or wondered what it might be for!
And it worked, thank you very much!
Looks like my old host does let me put .htaccess files in each directory.
However, there are other issues which have me looking for a new host, and I am certainly impressed with your responsiveness to a guest!
