I have accounts with 8 hosts (mostly reseller accounts, but some are shared and I use add-on domains).

I do this to mitigate risk and be able to compare but also because I develop open source software and I like to test it out on various hosts (including the very inexpensive ones) and it helps me make sure it works well in various settings (various versions of PHP/MySQL/Safe mode on/off, etc)


With respect to Insider Hosting:
1- Uptime has been excellent
2- Performance is excellent
3- Servers are nicely configured, we can have Ssh, etc
4- The other customers (on the same server as I) haven't been causing problems (AFAIK) and I hope/think they feel the same way about me :-) On another host, I requested (and they said yes) to be moved to another server because one of the domains was often causing problems.
5- For most of my tickets, I pick "low" priority (with questions or requests to upgrade my account) and things still get done very quickly.
6- Over 2 years, I had two "real" problems. Once was a MySQL table corruption which I repaired via the web panel, without contacting support. The second problem was "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket". Ticket filed at 09:11 Pm Ticket answered and solved at 09:13 Pm Maybe there were other issues, but they got solved before my customers or I noticed them :-)

While I must say that all of my other 7 hosts generally are good at answering tickets, the overall reliability/performance is not at the level of Insider Hosting. And often, there are resource limitations which kill off your processes. So, over time, I have been putting my most important/demanding customers on my Insider Hosting account.

I am so pleased, I just ordered a managed dedicated server (basically a super big reseller plan for the whole server)

As with anything (but especially online), you can shop around and find better prices. I used to have two root servers (one dedi and a vserver) and separate server for emails. But I prefer to have the Insider Hosting team handle all the software upgrades, monitoring, etc.

Some things are easy to compare side by side -> price, amount of Ram, amount of disk space, etc
Not-so-easy-to-compare -> expertise, reliability and peace of mind.

And the Insider Hosting price is a very fair one considering everything you get. Both in the easy to compare And the not-so-easy-to-compare categories.
