On your multi-domain packages (http://www.insiderhosting.com/hostingplans.html), under features where it says "Domains:", does that refer to how domains I'm able to park, or how many domain pointers I have?

I'm assuming it means the latter of the two, but I wanted to make sure.

That refers to how many sites that each account can take.

You can have 3 domain names on your one master account, all with their own bandwidth and quotas. But you must keep those quotas within your master account's limits.

Hi,

If you look futher down, where it says "All packages include" you will see at the bottom:

Up to 10 Parked Domains to Main Account Domain (not sub-domains)

A parked domain points to the main account. For instance, I have www.simplysara.net and www.simplysara.org pointing to www.simplysara.com

:)

Thanks for the speedy reply!

FYI, I'm looking at the Personal (multi-domain) package.

I suppose what I'm asking (and forgive me if I seem to be asking the same question over again) is, if I have domain1.com and domain2.com, will both point to the same master account (or index page), or will each domain be totally separate from each other in the sense that each will have their own email, ftp login, and show different pages when loaded?

I'm only familiar with the terms "domain pointer", which allows me to point a specific domain to a certain folder on my master account, and the term "domain parking", which means I'm able to have multiple domains pointing to the same master account (but not a separate dir).

I really just want to make sure that if I sign up, I'm able to have domain1.com and domain2.com completely separate from each other (while staying within the 200mb and 7000mb quota of the master account), without having both domains point to the same location (or index page).

Yes, you can do either method.

You can park domains on top of your main account, or you can have two completely seperate accounts like you want to have.

I have many different accounts on mine, and most going to different sites with their own domain, email, ftp and so on.

Okay, fantastic. :)

Thanks so much for the help (both of you). I will more than likely be signing up here by the end of this month.

Hello, thanks for your post as I am sure that others will have the same questions as you have. Thanks everyone for responding so fast to this members post, as it is greatly appreciated. With our multiple domain hosting packages, you have the ability to host multiple domains all under 1 main account. You get a bulk amount of space and a bulk amount of bandwidth and then are limited by the number of accounts that you can create. So for the personal multiple domain package, you can host domain1.com , domain2.com , domain3.com all having their own seperate e-mail accounts, ftp, databases, control panels, etc..

Hi all !
I just bought a new domain name....
I updated the DNS (registrar) but it will take 1 or 2 days to be synchronized with the PHANTASYWORKS (???) DNS.
Then, i will have to set the new domain name in the Control Panel but i want to point it (domain pointer) to a subdirectory. Can i do it myself or do I have to ask assistance to Insiderhosting ?

Thanks.

Hi,

Once your domain is resolved, put in a support ticket to have it pointed to the main domain. :) I don't think it can be pointed to a sub-domain, only the main one.

Well Sara,
I think he will be using Add-On domains, which work slightly different, unless of course he changed his account after becoming an IH client. ;)

Mmmmmmmmmkay Sardtok, I think he still needs to wait for it to resolve and put in a ticket though. ;)

Actually,
if he is using addon domains (which he is if he hasn't changed his account since the merger),
then going into cpanel then into domain manager and then into add-on domains will do the trick...
Here he can add domains and point them to directories or sub-domains.
But he still has to wait for the dns ;)

Ok, so if I have a domain that's resolved and active say abc.net and I want to add a domain like 123.com, I just go into the cpanel and point it to a subdomain, like me.abc.net?

Thanks for your help ! :)
I'll put a support ticket :casper

Sara: Yeah, I haven't used my own add-on domains yet...

So I still have 5,
but that's what it seems like...
You fill in a New Domain Name,
a Username/SubDomain Name [here].yourdomain.com
And a password.

I might set one up this fall though,
but it depends on what we decide to do with our schoolplays' website.
