Is there a manual describing how to use the different items in the control panel? I can use most of them but some I don't understand. Examples: 1) how to get a sub-domain to be associated with an ftp account - in FTP accounts it says "...or if your account has subdomain support you can add an ftp login for the subdomain." but it isn't clear how to do this. 2) The Interchange cart doesn't seem to install anything, is this an error in my home directory or something else? 3) What are these: Mime Types, MX Entry, Hotlink Protection, Manage Redirects, Manage Open PGP Keys, Apache Handlers. 4) not in control panel, but how would you use the server's shared SSL cert to have a secure page?

A manual, online or downloadable would be a great help!

By the way I think putting up this forum was a great idea - Thanks Steven.

Hi
In reply to your email;

CPanel has an online manual which cna be viewed at: http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/

There seems to be a problem with the control panel theme which is causing an error when trying to install interchange shopping cart. Maybe email the support team for a possible fix to this problem.

To access your site via the shared SSL visit: https://secure.insiderhosting.com/~username/

Steve,
Great questions, in addition to the manual that Barry pointed out, we have an online manual as well. We have both a manual for Webhost Manager as well as Cpanel. The manuals can be seen by going to www.insiderhosting.com/manuals .

As Barry stated accurately, all of our clients can use our shared SSL certificate. Access to the certificate is in the following format
https://secure.insiderhosting.com/~usernmame/ replacing username with the username that your account is setup with. For example, if your account was created with a username of steve then to use our shared SSL cert simply go to https://secure.insiderhosting.com/~steve/ .

It is well worth your time to learn all the things that cpanel can do. It is a very useful tool when you are running a website and you don't have the time to mess with FTP. :)

Thanks to all for the input. I'll check the manual sections for more information. I checked the cpanel.net page initially, and some answers I was looking for.

hey technically speaking cpanel.net will always have the most up to date content about the control panel as they are the developers of it. However, I urge you to move with caution there as there are things that have not been fully tested yet, which can cause a problem with some accounts. Whenever there is a change that is beneficial to our clients and us as techs, we will always upgrade.
