Do you know how we are gonna be affected by the merging of phantasynetworkshosting and insiderhosting?

Will our plan keep the same?

Hey Javaperl,
There are quite a few PWH clients on these boards now. Your packages will stay the same in terms of price and all features except two. You will not get a dedicated IP address unless you have justification for it, and also we do not offer SSH access by default. Should you need ssh access enabled, we are open to discussing it with you. Also see the following thread:

Welcome To The IH family.

Well I think this seems to be really great. I had my doubts at first, since I finally felt that I found a great place at "Phantasyworks.com" to host our website.

Now it seems that I don't have anything to worry about. The databases, emails, files seems to be transfered really well. Also that we "don't have to change our DNS adresses" is really great.

That we "former phantasyworks.com" customers will pay the same prize "for the same packages" is really GREAT too.

Now, I got the IP, and my FTP and mail server work. But, my site aint working due to "database connection errors".

The Insiderhosting.com crew is very helpful and I really like that. I have mailed "them" several times today, and everytime it's the great attitude and support.

I like it, so keep it up!!!

Does anyone know if this is a true merger -- are the original PWH folks with insiderhosting now? Or did they just sell their accounts to IH after all the NAC problems last weekend?

Everything's good so far, so I'm not complaining; I'm just curious.

Thanks!

Dave

Some words of support.

Welcome all you guys from PWH, I think I came with the first group at the begining of the year (1/1/03). Although the switch brings some confusion, I found it painless and never felt alone. It seems as Steve was one step ahead all the time. In genral, you'll find IH's customer support terrific.

I have submitted a ticket to the Help Desk.

I, for one, am VERY disappointed in the transfer.

Try www.tampabaymiatas.net

I'll go to it one time and it doesn't show my changes from yesterday. Close the browser and it does. The same happens with my forum and the version follows the version of index.html page that I see when the browser comes up.

This totally sucks.

It's almost as if the URL is hitting 2 different sites. Where do I change my DNS settings?

HELP!!!

Hey Mark,
Sorry to hear about the problems that you are having, but those problems are really out of our hands. I posted the following on your helpdesk ticket:
Since the changes were made a couple days ago in relation to dns, you might not see it fully resolve until later today, but that really depends on your ISP and how often they clean out their dns cache. Just make sure that anytime you update your site it is on our server (ie 64.5.44.31 IP).

Everything will be back to normal shortly. :)

You say we don't get SSH by default?
I have connected through SSH to the new server without any problems (At least I got a new rsa key - or what ever it's called, which means it's a new server).
I have no problems using ssh, will you remove the ssh support later after the entire server migration is done?
And if so, will I be able to download my mail using Imap with SSL?
PWH didn't support Imap with SSL, so I used an SSH connection to download the mail.

Steve,

Thanks for your quick response and for your reply. I guess I was really upset at the fact that so much forum data was lost.

No biggie though. How is it that each time I open the link I get one page then the other? Shouldn't I continue to get only the old site until their DNS cache is flushed?

Thanks.

Actually mark it wasn't lost, as it might be on the PWH server. We can make a backup of it and then transfer that DB to our servers, keeping everything in tact. The only thing that you will need to do is change the url of the forums to the IP address while the dns fully resolves for you. We would be happy to move your forum should you so desire, just put in a ticket.

Sardtok,
SSH is enabled on your account. I'm checking on the IMAP with ssl with our server admin.

Well,
SSH would be nice ;)
I also use it for ftp transfer ;)
And I could probably find some more excuses, especially when I get my old comp put back together into a Linux comp, need a cabinet and Cd-Rom and Floppy.
And a new monitor for my current wincrap as this one is starting to get a bit buggy (The width of the display sometimes changes so I have to adjust it back and forth :( only happens on 1280 resolutions, so it seems this monitor is going down, oh well I've had it for three years and it was a cheap piece of junk anyway).

So you just wait,
I'll probably find some excuses,
although SSH is not the world to me, it's nice to have.
Basically it's the encryption part I find most important,
while the shell is sometimes handy, especially if you want
to use C or C++ based cgi (I don't remember if this was part of the PWH hosting package, and I have yet to make any scripts in these languages).
Although I could probably compile C or C++ on a local linux machine and upload it, there's no guarantee for it working.
