Ok, here's the deal.

Now, I know phpbbhacks.com has the ezPortal hack, but I don't want that. All I want, is a simple method of getting the first post in a thread, and putting it on another page.

Basically, I want to rip off this site (http://www.ddrfreak.com) :D. But, only for the way the news is set up.
I want to get the subject, the body, the date and time, the post, and possibly the link to the thread.

I'll have it laid out slightly different than them, but, you get what I mean?

I don't even really have to have that comment counter and link, but it'd be nice to at least have the link, if someone knows how.

Anyone know of a lesser known hack, or know enough php/MySQL to do this?

thanks in advance.

SmackDaddy's PC Toolbin (http://www.pctoolbin.com) has the ezPortal (or something like it) installed. I don't want all that extra junk. The forums are accessible for that.

If this post didn't make sense...DDR Freak's news is simple the first post in each thread in their announcements forums...
How can I do that same thing?

I have e-mailed the webmaster in the past about various other things, and never got a response...I'd ask him but, yeah.

You talkin' about something like this:
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/downloads/index.php?t=sub_pages&cat=18 ??

I am using the system from mx-system.com -- but I don't like it anymore...... *shrugs*

Urgh..almost.
But I need it to display the content of the post as well...

(so...close...)

Again, DDR Freak (http://www.ddrfreak.com) has exactly what I want.

I dunno, but my buddy at http://www.eddieandlid.com/ uses the same thing that MX-System's uses and displays any "announcement" where you want it to........

He says he uses a small hack he found. Could be either:

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=23635&highlight=fetch+posts

or

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=69725&highlight=fetch+posts

(using the "search function" is your friend! Really it is!) :D

'The search function is your friend.'

*sigh*

Sounds like something I've heard all to often.

Why I didn't board dive, I have no idea...
