I just thought you guys should consider all this.

Ok, currently phpBB is at 2.0.3. They should be releasing phpBB2.0.4 (which is all bug/security/hole fixes) in a matter of weeks, but that's doesn't matter.

They say sometime in Q1 2003, they'll release phpBB2.2.
phpBB2.2 is a style/feature overhaul.

Currently (although I'm not suggesting it), there is a converting utility right here (http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=54908&highlight=vbulletin+convert+migrate) that will take a vBulletin Board up to version 2.2.8b and convert it to phpBB2.0.3 (leaving vB intact, just in case, y'know?) less some things that will require Admin correction (nothing major).

What I'm actually getting at is that as soon as phpBB2.2 comes out, and they release a conversion utility, you guys should consider converting.
phpBB is powerful, open source, free, and is really REALLY nice.

( We are currently using 2.0.3 if you care to look without an installation (http://vxjasonxv.edzdesign.com) ).

If you want to see what 2.2 is going to implement (once the 2.2final is released) you can go here (http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/roadmap-2.1.html).

Because it's relevant, 2.0.3 changes to 2.0.4 are available here (http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=358057#358057).

And a very detailed FAQ is available here (http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=358079#358079).

Thanks for listening.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the suggestion, but we love vbulletin. It has so many fantastic features, and it is constantly being upgraded with new additions. VB3 will also be out shortly as well.

i also have vbulletin

i tried phpbb, invision and ikonboard

if i had to choose, i think i would go with invision

but in either case, VB just has too many hacks and addons

for free, you get what you can get...

but for only $160 you can get a lifetime VB license with all the perks that comes with it

i know all the slogans like "why pay when you can get it for free"

the reason i paid is because i thought it was the best

after i paid only confirmed my thoughts
