HI!
Does anyone really know about .htaccess and can help with this. I would like to clarify some of the information I have found on the web with those who KNOW from experience as follows:
1- What DOES .htaccess do? I have seen it claimed that .htaccess is a text file with .htaccess as the extension (name) and it BANS domains you do not want linking to or visiting your site. IS THAT TRUE? I have a .htaccess file up and the domains I dont want linking to my site still have my links working just fine. (???)
So, can someone explain what this "banning" thing really is in regards to .htaccess. Perhaps my file is wrong. I am happy to post exactly what I have up for those who want to see what it looks like.
2- If I cannot use a .htaccess file to ban or "forbid" domains from linking to my site- is there another way to do this? Can you tell me what that would be and how?
