Hi;

I just put up a new web site about a trip I took down the http://mtigrp.com/amazon (Amazon River) and noticed in my Control Panel a CGI Script to put in a Guest Book.

I attempted to install the simple one first which appeared to be a simple form, but when installed and I tried it, nothing happened on the submit. You can check it out http://mtigrp.com/amazon/guest.html (My Guest Book)

So then I tried to install the better one and it just wouldn't let me install it at all. I am sure it is a simple issue, but I really don't have any experience with scripts, etc. so any help would be appreciated.

Also if there is a better Guest Book out there (I haven't even looked yet or gone to Matt Wright's scripts), would appreciate this info as well.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I was using Matts, which is a good script, until you want something quicker and not in the cgi-bin. ;)

I have this on some of the domains: www.xeoman.com It's a simple PHP/MySQL guestbook and you can customize it to your site.

The installation is simple as well...just upload the folder, CHMOD one file and fill in the blanks.

You can see it at work here: www.simplysara.com and www.creativechicks.com

I'm slowly replacing Matt's with this one on the other domains.

:) Sara

Hi Sara;

I downloaded the Guestbook you suggested from Xeoman.com. I am on a Mac and tried to set permissions when uploading but had a problem. So when I went to the admin section it asked for the password which I entered, then I got into the set-up with an error message that the peermissions werren't set properly.

So I went over to my PC and opened my FTP program there and set the permissions for the entire directory which I called "guest" and then went into the individual files in the directory and set cofig.php to 666 and it still didn't work. So I tried to set the permissions on the admin.php file to 666 or 766 and that didn't work.

I tried to upload a fresh file to my site figuring that I might have screwed up one of the files, but that was no go either. I am new to this and am not sure how to do this. Can you give me a step-by-step on how to get this up and running. Looks neat if I can get it to work.

Thanks
