View Full Version : PHPBB error

I tried to create a new template today and had this come up (in admin):
phpBB : Critical Error
Could not open smdotnet_v5 template config file
DEBUG MODE
Line : 326
File : /home/smdotnet/public_html/forum/includes/functions.php
So I decided I had better delete the new template I created, deleted the folder, but then I went back to the forum and this comes up at the main forum page:
message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?
If you need to see, check it out at http://www.sophiemonk.net/forum
Can anyone help me fix this? Or is it fatal and impossible to fix?
Thanks if you can help...
- Sarah.

Go into phpmyadmin and reset the default template for yourself to 1 (which should be the subSilver). It's in phpbb_users or whatever you named your table prefix.

Thank you for replying =)
I'm just a bit stuck...I've gone into phpmyadmin, to my phpbb database, and am in "phpbb_users", however I'm a bit lost as to which one I change.
ie. user_id, user_active, username, user_password, user_session_time...etc
And also: I've little knowledge of phpmyadmin and need to know how to reset it. I've only used it once or twice before, but I'm willing to learn.
Thank you for your help,
- Sarah.

Ooops, sorry, it is user_style. and as far as resetting phpmyadmin, I am not sure what you mean?
phpMyAdmin is just a gui for your databases.

Hello again - thank-you for telling me it was user_styles.
Sorry about my vague explanation...
All I mean is that I don't know how to do:
"Go into phpmyadmin and reset the default template for yourself to 1"
I don't know how or what to change to 1 exactly.
I went to user_styles, then "change" and changed the "default" from "NULL" to 1, but it didn't do anything...so I'm guessing I've changed the wrong thing.
Sorry about this...but I truly appreciate your help.

NULL is default for subSilver. Which user did you change the user_style on? Should be yourself. When you deleted the theme, you kept the original template, right?
In phpMyAdmin, click on your phpBB database, then select the phpbb_user table on the left. Click Browse from the top, click the little "edit" icon next to the user that you want to edit. You'll see the edit form, change the value and click "go"

I get where you mean now =) sorry about the confusion.
I checked under my username and went to edit...however the user_style has a "value" of 1 already?
Does it matter that under "type" is has: tinyint(4)
The subSilver files were never deleted...they're still there. I deleted the other folder "smdotnet_v5" I put in my templates folder, after the big error thing, thinking it might fix it.
It obviously didn't... =(

You might try deleting your whole forum (keep the database and save the config.php file) re upload all the files. Delete the install and contrib directories.
Not sure what is causing it to crash.
You didn't set the defualt to be the new theme?

What should I do with the mods I have installed?
Whoa I have a lot of complications...
And it's a pain I have so little understanding of php scripts...

Hey - I got the forum working again - I changed all the "subSilver" template files to be called "smdotnet_v5" and the forum came back...
I have to get it up to scratch again but I think I've solved the problem...why didn't I think of it before?!
But you do not understand how much of a help you've been - you've helped even when I didn't have a clue with what I was going on about, and you kept at it. I truly appreciate it =)
Thank-you so much...and I can say, I've learnt a lot along the way!
Now let's hope I don't bugger it again =S lol!
