I was just wondering if you would all participate in a new forum we are thinking about setting up. The new forum will be called customer comments. That way any perspective client can come view our forums and read testimonials, trials and tribulations, etc...
What do you think yes or no and more importantly why?

YES--Every new customer wants to hear about the type of service they will recieve from a new hosting company. It has been my exp. that if you ask around the forums you can usually tell what you are getting into. The first thing that I noticed when I considered IH was that NOBODY was complaining about any portion of IH's service. Sure there were questions that I consider to be fairly common, features, useage, etc, but no complaining. Long story short I think it would be of great benefit to IH for its prospective customers to see what REAL members have to say about the business. Side note, I think it looks "fake" when a company puts "real" comments from customers up on their homepage. It always feels a little to manicured. Forums allow you to get right to the source.

My answer would be :yes.
I also often go to forums to read custumers experince. My only concern usualy is that when its a forum that is hosted and moderated by the hosting company I always wonder if they just dont delete the threads they dont like and that dont speak good for their company /well IH doesnt have to worry about that part I guess, the people are just too happy with them because they are such a wondeerful company :D. and that kind of words dont come from my mouth too often/
But anyway I got way off the subject.
So I usualy read forums of the company, but I usualy rely on forums that are not owned by the company.
still my answer is yes.
ed_lynn had a good point with the quotes from people on the home pages... They tend to look fake. I
maybe make a forum for user experince and put a link to it on the main page :D so the people can go and read real time comments.
Just so you both know, we have implemented this forum. :)

i think its a good idea. i am, however, suspicious about the moderator pulling negative comments thus giving a skewed veiw of the host. the reason i am here is becasue a freind has recommended insiderhosting to me and i was unable to find a review on epinions.com. i did a google search and found this link. based on her experince with your service and the things i have found here i am more likely to choose you as a host. also from your perpsective i think it is a good way to discover common problems with your service and adress them. i am currently with burlee.com and have told them about one particularly bothersome problem i have with thier site. they always respond with a "thats the way it is". well, maybe they should look into fixing it. i think i'm talking to the wrong people over there. maybe your forum will reach the right ones. by the way, anyone know a good place to find unbiased reveiws on hosts? thanks.

Not really, webhostingtalk.com is your best bet but be warned, hosts and their 'henchmen' sign up under multiple names and skew the opinions that way.
ALL hosts moderate their boards, how do I know this?.. I have been through over 20 hosts. I am a real fussy customer and expect high standards. Insiderhosting is the best host I have found.
Its decent here, excellent reliability and service. I've been with loads of hosts, usually ending in abusive arguments, one host even cancelled all my clients accounts because I told him what I thought, another host lied about downtime and that almost ended up with a 'personal meeting', and not for tea and biscuits!...lol.
I have high expectations and would be gone if it was crap here. It isn't, you won't be dissapointed. I can't guarantee what the future will be like here, but so far so good.
I can accept HDs going, hackers, other users causing hell, and all the many problems that can face a host, what I don't put up with is crap customer service, lies and general excuses.

Hello and welcome to our forums 7spooner7. I will be the first to tell you that we do moderate our boards, who doesn't. We do not however delete negative reviews about our company (we have never had one to be honest). We have a nice forum right above this one that we call our suggestions forum. This forum is intended for our clients to make suggestions to our staff on how we can better serve you. We take all criticism constructively, and we do not delete any posts on our forum. Clients know that this forum is not a support forum and any support issues that they have, they need to take up with our helpdesk as that is why we have the helpdesk. The forums are for discussions relating to hosting, scripts, general chat, etc..
Hopefully you'll give us the opportunity to host your site(s) so you can test out what we are about.
