View Full Version : Transfering a Domain Name

Hi,

Next week I plan on purchasing a domain and hosting through insider hosting. I have no questions about the service, as I'm told it's terrific! I do however plan on getting a 'multiple hosting' account. My personal domain expires September 4th, and I don't plan on renewing it. However, I have a second domain ( cosmic-glow.net ) who I purchased through cyberpixels and it does not expire until January 2004.

I would like both my new domain (soon to be purchased) and my other domain (cosmic-glow.net) to be on the same hosting account. However, I have no clue how to go about transfering the domain to the new hosting. I know I need to back up my files, blah blah blah. But who do I need to talk to and what information do I need to give them? Do I talk to insider hosting or cyberpixels? Hopefully insider because cyberpixles hasn't answered a help ticket in 4 weeks!

Anyway, if someone could reply here with the information or email me at [edited to prevent spam] by this weekend telling me how to change hosting on my domain, that would be terrific! I thank whoever in advance, as it is much appreciated.

Also, a bit unrelated, but I need to know 2 more things:

1) Is it possible to pay a few months at a time? I'm using a family members credit card (they owe me money) and I'd prefer a one time bill instead of monthly.

2) Where can I find out about detailed features such as webmail, pop3 accounts, ect... I currently use Horde for my email program and would love to continue. I can change, but it's just a personal rpeference.

Hi Amber,
Thanks for the post :)

Transferring your sites to us is easy, as all it is really is a matter of signing up for a package, and then we email you with detailed instructions on how to move your site over to our servers. All you essentially need to do is upload your files to our server, and then change your domain to point to the nameservers that we send you in your welcome email. You won't need cyberpixels.

As far as the other questions, we bill on a monthly basis only as that is the agreement we have with our merchant processing company. The second answer is we have 3 webmail applications, which are neomail, squirrelmail, and horde.

Awesome, I have all 3 of those email clients (but I stick with horde). So the transfering domains sounds so much less stressful than I had planned (thankfully!). I also thank you for your quick reply.

I can udnerstand about the billing, I just wanted to see if it was an option or not cause my aunt asked. I have talked things over with her and the domain will be purchased enxt week after she gets paid. Soon I'll be a member of Insider Hosting, yay!

Also, my friend recommended me to you guys. If I give you her domain and such (shes hosted here) does she get any kind of credits at all?

I ask alot of questions...Sorry.
