Hi;
I really like this Forum and was in the control panel and notice that there is a PHP Forum there that I could install. There is no link or sample I could see and was wondering if this is the one that would be installed on my web site.
I am working with some PHP programmers in India now and they seem to be pretty good, work quickly and the prices are reasonable. I would like to add this to one of my web sites internationalpress.com if I could.
Will be out of town for a few days will check in on Monday when I return.
Thanks
Steven

Len,
Not sure which forum you are talking about in the control panel as there is XMB, openbb, phpbb, and invision board. The last three are all in the autoinstaller link. (if the link in cpanel says forum/bbs then it is XMB).
XMB: http://www.xmbforum.com/community/forums/
openbb: http://forums.prolixmedia.com/
phpbb: http://www.phpbb.com
invision board: http://forums.invisionboard.com/
We use www.vbulletin.com as vbulletin in our opinion is the best forum software on the market. The price for Vbulletin is $160 owned license (what we have, then it is simply $30 year for upgrades), or $85 for a leased license but that is only valid for one year, then it is another $85 every year after that.
Out of the others (not including vbulletin) listed above phpbb and invision board appear to be the best.

I agree with Steve, phpbb is the way to go. It's very much like VBulletin, and comes with a lot of good administrative features.
I just downloaded and installed phpbb2. :) Very nice! So simple to install and run. No complaints here!

One of the reasons why I think that phpbb2 will be better than any of the other free message boards is because it has been in development for a long time. They have listened to the needs of their members, and released a very good product, how they do it for free is beyond me.
I agree totally Tal! It's an amazing product!
Just so you know, I didn't use the board in the cpanel, I went to the site and downloaded. Thanks for having it available though. :) You do have to know how to set up or use an existing MySQL db and a year ago I was lost. I downloaded it and had it running in 5 mins. Either I'm getting smarter or the product is getting better. Maybe both? ;)

This has got to be one of the easiest boards around http://www.invisionboard.com/
I prefer V-bulletin and thats what I use but if you are looking for a freebie this one is great.

I have set up over 20 PHPBB2 boards and find them to be excellent for reliability and ease of use.
However, sometimes on small sites they are overkill, if you don't expect many posters then I think http://phorum.org/ is an excellent choice. Also if you have the PHP Programming book by Wrox, Phorum is a case study so it wouldn't be too difficult to develop your own board based on the Phorom code :)
Another decent board is the one that is a case study for PHP for Flash by Friends Of Ed, check out http://www.phpforflash.com/board/ :)
